Children of Promise, Not Works

Are you trying to earn your way into heaven? Romans 9:6-13 reminds us that being a child of God is not about works, bloodline, or religious activity — it is about promise. Just as Isaac was the son of promise through whom Jesus came, we become children of promise the moment we surrender to Christ.

God cannot lie (Numbers 23:19). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). No amount of church attendance, sacrifice, or good deeds can replace a broken and contrite heart before God (Psalm 51:16-17). We do not do good works to gain Jesus — we do them because we have Jesus.
