United in Christ: Dead to Sin, Alive to Unity
Are you truly living free from the power of sin, or are you still enslaved to offense, anger, and pride? This Sunday we continued our journey through Romans 6, discovering what it really means to be united with Christ in both His death and resurrection.
Here's the challenge: Jesus calls us to deny ourselves daily and take up our cross. That means we no longer have the right to be offended, to gossip, or to choose disunity with our brothers and sisters in Christ. When Jesus hung on the cross, beaten beyond recognition, He prayed "Father, forgive them." Stephen did the same as he was stoned. What's our excuse?
True Christian unity requires true humility, and true humility requires Jesus. When we're truly dead to sin and alive in Christ, we're free to love others as He loves us, setting our affections on things above, not on earthly offenses. The question is: what do you love most? Where do you spend your time and energy?
It's time to move from the pew to the front lines. Growth starts with us.
