Standing on God's Truth: The Sin of Idolatry and Sexual Immorality

Nov 2, 2025    Pastor Josh Smith

The hardest truths require the clearest stands. In Romans 1:24-27, Paul doesn't give us room for compromise - God's design for humanity, relationships, and holiness stands in direct opposition to a culture chasing after its own desires.

When we reject God repeatedly, He eventually gives us over to what we've chosen. This isn't abandonment - it's the sobering reality of free will. We chase vain imaginations until our foolish hearts are darkened, worshiping created things instead of the Creator.

The question isn't whether God's truth is clear. It's whether we're willing to stand on it when it costs us something. When it makes us unpopular. When it threatens our comfort, our friendships, or even our freedom.

Marriage between one man and one woman. Sexual purity. Turning from idols to serve the living God. These aren't suggestions or outdated ideas - they're God's unchanging truth.

What are you worshiping today? Busyness? Pleasure? Acceptance? Comfort? The approval of others? Anything we place before God becomes an idol, and idols always demand more than we intended to give.

Paul stood against an entire culture and gave his life for the Gospel. The early church faced persecution for refusing to compromise. Believers around the world today are making that same choice.

Will you stand on God's truth when it costs you something? The time to decide is now, because compromise always takes you further than you ever intended to go.
